I understand that the Warriors had to let go of someone today to make room for Monta Ellis’ symbolic return from the suspended list and that the consensus opinion on all the blogs I’d read said that Richard Hendrix was the most likely candidate because of his relatively cheap non-guaranteed 2nd round contract. However, I honestly believe the team will regret seeing this young guy come back and snap Brandan Wright’s neck (if he’s even still around at that point) on a two-handed put-back dunk.

Yes, we do have Ronny Turiaf to fill in the paint with more force, and yes, since Don Nelson has signed on to coach for a couple more years, it is unlikely Hendrix would’ve ever seen any playing time at all. Nevertheless, after everyone referred to Hendrix as a Paul Millsap-type player, it’s unfortunate that he never got a chance to play for us in the big leagues after going 13 and 10 in the D’s. Thirteen and 10 in the minors shouldn’t have gotten anyone overly excited, but at least it showed effort. He wouldn’t have been a star, but he would’ve done all the blue-collar stuff that would’ve endeared him to fans and his teammates.

It feels like the Warriors simply tossed a Christmas present into the recycler before it was even opened and instead held onto one that was roughly shaped like Marcus Williams.
